Filming Blast #4

Hey Upper Media Siders, you know who it is, it's your favorite Media Studies site with more information than ever.





- Welcome back into the scandalous lives of media studies elite! Today I will be running you through our third day of filming :) YES THIRD!! Sarah, Emily, and I got together once again, this time, with a very special guest: the one and only VICKY!!!! 

Rundown Of The Day: 

- Day Three of Filming was March 21st about 4:30pm! To be honest, this felt more like a hangout than a filming day!  It was so much fun and exciting to finally film some of the most important scenes of the movie! 

-March 21st was the first Monday of our spring break! it felt great to film on a day that there wasn't school or that I didn't work! I was super happy that we were all available and that it happened! 

Before I go into detail of the film day, I have to mention our special guest....

Virginia Wall!

  • Virginia Wall is Emily Wall's mom! Originally we were going to use Sarah's mom; however, she was unavailable at the time, so we conducted a little recasting! Emily's wall will now be playing the supporting chapter for our movie! She did Amazing!!  I am super happy that she was available to film with us! Nothing would be possible without her! Thanks vicky:) 


  • Here is Vicky doing her makeup in front of my house before we filmed our scenes! She did her best to match her clothes to the clothing we posted on the costuming blog. Honestly, she did a really good job and stayed on theme with the brown/ neutral colors. She was super excited to film and so were we! 

Time For Breakfast!

As Emily, Vicky, and I waited for Sarah to arrive to my house, I decided to get started on making the breakfast for the scene of Juliet's mom handing Juliet breakfast before dropping her off at school! Down below are some pics:)


Time 2 Film!

  • We began shooting the clips we needed for our movie! We started with Juliet walking to the kitchen from her bedroom. We adjusted my blinds to help out with the lighting and worked around with the angles to see which one was the best one for the job! 



  • After filming the hallway scene, we moved over to the breakfast scene! This is where Vicky;s amazing acting skills came into play and she did exactly what we needed! Emily helped point out important aspects that a director does and I filmed the shots and worked my magic :) This scene is one of my favorites because it truly channels that "Coming of Age" breakfast scene where the mom sits with her daughter as she takes only one bit or one sip of the breakfast and then proceeds to school! Take a look down below to see some of the pics we took as I try to capture the perfect shot! 


  • Things got a little challenging when we started to film the scenes in the car! filming the shots of vicky and sarah getting in the car were super easy! It was just trying to get the camera inside the car was harder than expected! Some of the places we were putting the camera weren't working as the camera would fall or not fit both Vicky and Sarah in the same shot! Nevertheless, we found the perfect spot inside the car all the way to the left in the corner! problem was solved and we got our footage of Juliet and Juliet's mom in the car on the way to school!


  • We filmed some additional clips of Juliet getting out of the car and walking towards school at the Elementary school right next to my house! Since it was spring break, our school was closed but the nearest elementary school was open! (THANKFULLY!). Emily ended up playing an extra! She did great! good job em!!
  • We filmed so much on day three! The only part we weren't able to film was the inside the school section because we were missing the poster that we needed of the "performance" that Juliet would be perfuming in the near future! As soon as the girls get back form there NYC Spring Break Trip we will be filming that!
  • Overall was an amazing day of filming! To end the day off, Vicky got all of us Starbucks as a celebratory drink! This was super sweet of her and I will never forget it! None of this would have been possible without vicky. Like Vicky would say......
