There are so many genres when it comes to films and movies! Action, Comedy, Drama, Fantasy, the list goes on and on. This post is all about the genre of Horror! Horror is meant to shock, scare, excite the audience with frighting images, characters, setting, basically the entire movie has you on the tip of your toes and makes your entire body shiver as you watch. Its personally my favorite genre!! Down below is a Mood Board for the Horror Genre that I personally made!! Take a good look at it before I go into detail :)



Why Do I Like The Genre Horror? 

How does someone not love horror movies? Watching a horror movie is a whole different experience!! one minute you see someone, the next minute they're gone, dead, or a ghost!  While watching, you don't know what is going to happen next! Everything is a mystery, majority of the time its extremely dark, creepy noises, frighting characters, just amazing! I love horror movies because its full of surprises, and gives you a rush of Adrenaline. And of course, scares you :) What I really enjoy about horror films is that some genres, such as action, comedy, and fantasy are extremely predictable; However, when it comes to Horror, its always shocking and full of unimaginable actions. 


How do incorporate Horror In Films!

To make a film or movie fall into the Horror Genre, there are some exceptions that comes with it! 

1. Characters: When it comes to horror movies, there is a variety of characters type you can use. Not everyone has to have fangs, have 3 eyes, be monster looking, some charters are regular human beings. Obviously the majority of horror films include monsters, vampires, or humans wearing scary masks but that doesn't mean your horror movie has to have these type of characters. Take for instance, Happy Death Day or Twilight, yes they have vampires or masked people, but some of their characters are normal people!  

2. Locations: Key places for horror movies are cemeteries, huge castles,  dark forests, foggy areas, the list goes on. Anything that is dark, have frighting lighting, and are usually empty is the place to be for a Horror Film. As long as its quiet and dark, your good!! 

3. Wardrobe: Similarly to the characters, some wardrobe can be similar to what normal people wear on a daily basis. However, for the villains, monsters, or just scary people, their wardrobe can include dark, black clothing. capes, scary masks, gloves, etc. Just picture Frankenstein or an 1000 year old vampire. 

4. Props:  In a horror film, some of the MOST COMMON props are knifes, candles, fire, BLOOD, and just anything that screams 'scary'. You can't have a horror film without BLOOD!! 
(you technically can, but where's the fun if there's no blood? :) )
