Avengers Infinity War is a movie about Marvel Superheroes, including Thor, Hulk, Iron-Man, Spiderman, and so many more that must be willing to risk it all in an attempt to defend the entire universe against the powerful villain Thanos before he snaps his fingers and puts an end to the entire world.
Not only this this movie have an amazing plot, but it also has amazing shots!! Just by watching the trailer of the movie, I was already able to take many notes on the different camera angles and movements. Down below are my favorite still shots of the angles and movements that I watched!
1. Establishing Shot
This is the very first shot of Avengers Infinity War movie, aka the Establishing Shot. The reason why I quickly noticed that this was the establishing shot was because it was the first shot of the movie, introduces the location, and sets the mood for the scene/ movie. In the movie, this shot is of an aircraft that is in the middle of outer space with many innocent individuals onboard being attacked by the villain Thanos. Since this is a still shot, you can't hear the audio of the scene but It starts with someone repeating the saying"This is not a war craft..." Alongside the chatter, there is myserteous and scary music playing in the background. This establishing shot lets the viewers know that the battle starts in space and establishes that the mood is Melancholy.
2. Over the Shoulder Shot
This shot captures the individuals who were on the spaceship of the one pictured in the establishing shot. Since the camera is positioned right behind Loki and facing the villain Thanos, it is called the Over The Shoulder Shot. This angle is used to film the conversation between Thanos and Loki. This angle is so powerful because not only does it show that they are both talking to each other, but it captures Thanos looking more powerful than Loki because it has Thor trapped by the head as he attempts to kill him by using his gantlet. This shot does a great job of showing the intimacy of hate between the two characters. It also helps us focus on Thanos and Thor has Loki and Thanos have the conversation, its if we are right there witnessing it live.
3. Wide Shot
This shot captures Gamora, daughter of Thanos and Thanos himself in the middle of warriors depicting to be killing the creatures of the land. What I love about this Wide Shot is that it shows both of the characters and what they are doing. It allows the audience to absorb all the relevant information and build of context of what's about to happen. The wide shot does a great job of capturing the full and complete scene and show's where the character is and who's with them at the moment. In this particular part of the move, this use of wide shot really adds drama and tension to movie, giving very important clues to the audience.
